Languages

The interface is available in ten languages. Choose one from the globe menu at the top right of the login window; the window is rebuilt in that language at once, and the choice is saved in the configuration file (language:).

A text missing from a translation is shown in English.

The texts are in .resx files in src/Corsinvest.ProxmoxVE.Vdi/UI/Resources: Strings.resx is English, Strings.<code>.resx each translation. Change the <value> of the entries that read badly and open a pull request: corrections from native speakers are welcome, down to a single word.

  1. Copy Strings.resx to Strings.<code>.resx, with a standard culture code (ja, zh-Hans; a region only when it matters, as in pt-BR).
  2. Translate every <value>. Leave the name attributes and the XML header as they are.
  3. Add the language to the Languages list in UI/LoginWindow.cs, with the name of the language written in the language itself, in alphabetical order:
    ("ja", "日本語"),
  4. Build, pick the language at login and go through every window (login, main window, the Settings tabs, the services and launcher dialogs, the kiosk password prompt) looking for missing texts and labels that do not fit.
  5. Open a pull request with the new file and the Languages line.
Term Treatment
Cluster, Node, Pool, Tag Proxmox VE terms: keep them, or use the term of the Proxmox VE interface in that language
CT Keep as the short label for containers
SPICE, VNC, RDP, SSH, OTP Never translated
Proxmox VE VDI Client Product name, not in the resource files

A new text in the code gets its entry in Strings.resx and in every translation, in the same change.
