SPICE console

Invoke-PveSpice opens the SPICE console of a VM in remote-viewer, the SPICE client of virt-viewer, without going through the web interface:

# Windows
Invoke-PveSpice -VmIdOrName web01 -Viewer 'C:\Program Files\VirtViewer v11.0-256\bin\remote-viewer.exe'
# Linux
Invoke-PveSpice -VmIdOrName web01 -Viewer /usr/bin/remote-viewer

It finds the VM with Get-PveGuest, asks Proxmox VE for a SPICE connection file (POST /nodes/{node}/qemu/{vmid}/spiceproxy), saves it to a temporary file and starts the viewer on it. Show-PveSpice is an alias.

Requirements:

  • A VM, not a container, with a SPICE display: Display set to SPICE (qxl) in its hardware.
  • remote-viewer installed on your machine; -Viewer is its full path.
  • The node you connected to is used as SPICE proxy, so your machine must reach it on port 3128.
  • The privilege VM.Console on the VM.

The ticket in the connection file is valid only for a short time: run Invoke-PveSpice again for each session.
